vineyard. We are long time visitors to the outer banks. We have stayed
and enjoyed southern shores for 15-20 years through souther shores
realty. We could exchange for equal time any time here but we go off
season there may-june. You can see us via the webb in visitmystic.com/fitchclaremonthouse.

Okay, there are certain places you have to go for certain things to
eat on the Outer Banks. HURRICANE MO'S for the best steamed oysters
ever (beer and wine only)! CAPT'N FRANKS for the best hot dogs! CLARA'S
for the absolute best ever she-crab soup! DAIRY MART for the best
hamburger you will ever put in your mouth (outside dining only!)
ELIZABETH'S CAFE all around yummy! For great tuna taco's, it's gotta be
GOOMBAY'S. JOHN'S DRIVE IN for tuna boats with fried okra and don't
forget the peanut butter milkshakes (outside dining only!) THE OASIS:
you have to go get the BELLRINGERS! Raw oyster on a saltine cracker
with horseradish, hot sauce and a jalapeno; a buck a piece. Your nasal
passages will be clear for weeks. My record is six. If Mark makes them;
I can only do three. THAI ROOM for the sauteed soft shells. We lived on
the Outer Banks for nearly 10 years but go back at least twice a year.
Just got back from our 11 days during Easter 99. Had a wonde! rful time

We have a lovely NYC apartment on Manhattan's upper west side, right
on Broadway. We love our neighborhood with its restaurants, shopping,
theatre, groceries, and all amenities, and its proximity to Riverside
and Central Parks. The express train stops at our corner and takes us
to Times Square in ten minutes. We have a part-time doorman and an
old-style, well maintained, one bedroom apartment (800 square feet with
full bath and kitchen with dishwasher and full-size appliances)which
sleeps three comfortably. We'd love to swap for a beach house for
spring/summer/fall 1999, and perhaps for New Year's 2000.

We are a family of four with a very nice 3 bedroom house in downtown
Grand Junction, CO. We love all the mountian stuff but would like to
vacation at the beach. We live 35 min from 11,000 foot alpine settings
and 20 min from desert canyons. Mtn biking and hiking here is as good
as anywhere in the world. We would like to exchange houses and cars
with a family from the outer banks for a week or two in the summer of
1999.

We have a vacation home on 150 acres in the mountains of north
central Pa. We would like to arrange an exchange for a ocean front
house on the Outer Banks for 1 or 2 weeks. Our house is located on the
top of a mountain with an unbelievable view of Pine Creek which runs
thru the Pa. Grand Canyon....privacy is assured. Hiking, fishing,
hunting, birdwatching and rafting are all right here. Plenty of
pictures to exchange.

We have a 4 bedroom house in Southern Shores. We rent it through
Southern Shores Realty during the season, but wish to exchange at other
times. The house is located 700 feet from the ocean; it's spacious,
peaceful, comfortable and filled with amenities. Sleeps 8-9 but is
great for a couple off season because the large master bedroom and
living spaces are on one floor. For photo and description, see website
for the realty co. (southernshores.com) (Name:Manna; #289). We would
consider any exchange locations, esp. Western US, New England, Europe,
Mexico, Caribbean.

We are inquiring about the "beaches" of the Outer Banks. We will be
vacationing somewhere on the Outer Banks this summer and one of our
primary concerns is the "beach". We are looking for a wide beach where
we can spread out and not be bothered by other beach-goers (and
vice-versa as we have three active youngsters!). We also want a beach
with a gradual slope into the ocean (our children are under 10) and
weak undercurrent. We would appreciate your comments and/or
recommendations. Thanks! Mark Lynam Mount Joy, PA

Editor's Note: You're now in with the others all it takes is a
submission to these travelogues. Hope you find an exchange.
I have a large (2500 sq.ft) two-story home in Anchorage, Alaska. It
has four bedrooms, 2.5 baths and a double garage . It is situated in a
quiet, upscale neighborhood with easy access to much of the wilderness
that Alaska has to offer. Along with these accomodations would be
twenty-plus years of hiking and fishing information that can literally
save you hundreds of dollars a day off the rates with which typical
tourists get "taken". If you have a four or five-bedroom, beachfront or
near ocenside home and are intrigued by the opportunity to exchange it
for a home in the Last Frontier, let me hear from you.

someone has a place for sale, and would not mind someone staying for
the summer. I am very much interested in buying something in the area,

you could give me. Or tell me where I might be able to find other help.

We own a charming older home in Ohio's Amish Country. (I know what
I'm saying, my in-laws are Amish.) The home has three bedrooms, one
king bed, two twins, and two bunks. Two and a half baths including
jacuzzi tub. This is the heart of Ohio tourist country in the first
town settled in Ohio. Things to see & do: Trumpet in the Land Outdoor
Drama, Amish restaurants, quilt shops, flea markets, lots of antique
stores including an extremely large antique mall; for kids: walk to
Tuscora Park with rides for a quarter, swimming pool, batting cages,
miniature train and miniature golf and within 45-60 minutes of Sea
World, Geauga Lake, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Pro Football Hall of
Fame, great golf courses and lakes. No pets please. We would like to
exchange homes with one on Outer Banks. During month of June or August.
Please reply.
