My husband and I visited the cottages about five years ago.
We want to come back for a visit but would like to receive
a catalogue of all the different cottages for rent, where they are
located and how much per week.

have a 3 bedroom home in Massanutten Four Season Resort near
Harrisonburg, Va. Would like to swap for a home at Outer Banks for the
week beginning June 28, 2003. Massanutten offers cool weather,
beautiful scenery for biking, hiking, river rafting and tubing.

ENTIRE SUMMER. I am a high school English teacher, and would like to

information to help me with this? I would like to stay in a house, 1-3
bedrooms, secluded, or at least not part of a dense neighborhood. Thank

I've taken on the responsibility of planning a large family reunion for
August 2001. We drove from Atlanta to OBX last October and stayed at
the Comfort Inn across from the Wright Memorial (very nice) in order to
look for a house to rent for the reunion. We called several realtors
and ended up using R&R. We found that the large homes are rented really
fast and if we hadn't gone ahead and secured rental property then, we
might not have found a large enough house for 22 people. We finally
rented a home in Pine Island (Bella Vista). Has anyone ever stayed in
this home that can give me their opinion of it or any general
information about Pine Island from experienced renters? We have never
vacationed at OBX nor has anyone in our party so we are very 'green' as
far as places to go, area info, etc. Everything we know, we've gotten
from the internet but would love to have some input for 'seasoned'
obx-ers. Thanks.jwcolle@bellsouth.net

We are a small contracting company that is bidding to do the repairs at
the Bodie Island lighthouse at Oregon Inlet. We are looking for
inexpensive living quarters for 8 people for the months of June and
July, 2001. We need to get a reasonable idea of the cost to make a good
bid. We would prefer it to be one large place. If anyone knows of a
place please contact me ASAP. I would greatly appreciate your help.
Thanks, BJ Kuhlmann bjkulhmann@hotmail.com

I've booked a place in Avon, oceanfront, for late May. Can anyone
tell me what Avon is like? I've browsed lots of sites, and have a sense
that it's fairly busy with shops and lots of rentals, but am really
hoping that it doesn't feel as congested and touristy as parts of the
northern outer banks seem to be. If someone could provide an honest
description of the area I'd really appreciate it.

There is a campground at the end of Okrakoke Island and I can't
remember the name or find the phone number anywhere. If anyone has any
information on this, please email me. I think it is the only campground
on the island and plan on staying there this summer, 2001. Any
information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My family and I are wanting to visit a lighthouse, what is the closest
lighthouse to Raleigh -Durham?

Hi, we are getting married on 9/29/01 and are thinking about the Outer
Banks for our honeymoon. Guy is from NC but has never been and we would
love to be able to combine the trip with seeing family who can't home
to the wedding (we are getting married in CA where we live). Two
questions: 1. I am a little worried about hurricanes? should I be? 2.
We don't have a lot to spend on a vacation, is it possible to have a
quiet peaceful getaway in the OB without spending a lot? If so any
accommodation recommendations? (ok I guess that was three questions)
Thanks for any help you can give.
-- Laura and Guy Wanerman (lgwanerman@mindspring.com) - 3/24/01

the "Pony Tail Motel" I believe this is the correct name) in Okrakoke

Wanting to windsurf (soundside) this late spring. Anybody renting one
of those great sound front houses and interested in sharing costs? I'm
40, easy going, into lots of sailing and having fun.
R. Blake (Rblakenyc@aol.com) -- 3/10/01
We have been coming to Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head for years and
our all time favorite restaurant is the Seafood Buffet at THE WHARF,
near the 12 mile post on the Beach road in Nags Head. There is a huge
selection on the buffet and all are Great ! ! No surprise that the
Fried Shrimp, Steamed Shrimp and the Fried Flounder are excellent, but
so is everything else -- example: the pork barbeque is as good as any I
have ever sampled anywhere -- and I have had plenty ! There is nothing
on the buffet that isn't absolutely first rate! The price is very
affordable. We find that our budget permits us to eat at The Wharf
three times during our visit compared to only two times at any of the
many other seafood buffets. Sure there is always a long line but you
know it moves pretty fast because they seem to keep the buffet stocked
high from op0ening until closing, and there is not the distraction or
delay occasioned by the ordering, preparation and consumption of
alcoholic beverages or aperitifs. Once you are inside it's all about
eating as much as you want of the best food that we have found in the
Outer Banks. Enjoy!

Greetings from beautiful Scottsdale, AZ. I have a beautiful wife that
has never seen the Atlantic ocean. I have rented a house in duck from
6/16-6/23. I grew up in the tidewater area and am taking my bride home.
I want to Surf cast and if possible catch fish," big time". I want to
take her crabbing, What can I expect to catch in the surf during that
period of time. What kind of bait, where can I buy the bait. I'm damn
excited about the whole trip. and if it goes well I plan on making it
an annual trip. Kirt.

Can you tell us anything about Durant Station Motel?
-- jim Romandetti (yomama1127@aol.com) 2/27/2001
Hey! My best friend and I were interested in finding summer jobs in the
Outer Banks area. I am a senior and he is a sophomore in college. Both
of us are biology majors. We would love to find jobs that are fun and
exciting, but we are realisitc! Justin is very much into golf and
wildlife, while I am heavily into horseback riding, volleyball and
wildlife also. We are very eager and I think we can also say pretty
versatile! If anyone knows of any opportunites that two level-headed
college guys may take advantage of, please let me know. Thanks for all
the help!

We're planning a vacation to outer banks. Wanted to know if anyone knew
what there is to do? I have small children. If you know any good hotels
and restaurants that would be helpfull to. Thanks Feb. 2001

The outer banks get less busy the further south on the strand you
travel. Nags Head and Kitty Hawk are on the northern end, which is a
little busier, but my friends who have kids say it's perfect. My wife
and I like Hatteras down towards the southern end where it's not busy
at all. We stay at the Seagull Motel, which is very nice. We sun, rent
surfboards (I suck), enjoy bonfires on the beach, eat fresh seafood at
The Pilot House restaurant (grilled, herbed wahoo!), and completely
fall apart with relaxation. Believe me, we just went on an expensive
Caribbean trip and (it was nice, but) I would totally trade it for time
at Hatteras.
-- JimGarrett (jimg_111@yahoo.com) 2/24/2001
I will be vacationing on the sound side of Tuckahoe Drive (south of
Duck). The description of the place I will be staying at said that a
pier was within walking distance. Will the be any good fishing there
during the first week of September? How deep is the water around there
(I would like to do some wading and Fly-Fishing?) Any help would
greatly be appreciated. Best regards,

I'm getting married on Oct. 20th and I would like to find a place to
have a girls weekend probably sometime in Aug. or Sept. Is there a
house that we could rent for a weekend, up to three nights, that could
accommodate 15-20 people? FYI - Our ages are late 20's to early 30's.
Also, when do the rates go down?
