I have been going to myrtle beach for the past 18 years, that's at
least once a year. since i am only 18, it's a great tradition. i love
the entire area. i took my first steps there. everyone must visit the
yum-yum shop in garden city. it's the best. and try out medieval times
and Dixie stampede, it's pricey but totally worth it. if you teenage
kids want to run around by themselves, take them to the garden city
pier and let them roam for two or so hours. it's very safe. DO NOT TAKE
THEM TO THE ATTIC. it's in downtown MB. i have been there and seen what
goes on. yes there is security and only under 21. but things get in and
go on. I like going to things like that, but being 18 and saying this,
you know it's bad.

My family has been going to North Myrtle and Mrytle beach ever since I
was born. Normally we stay for a week. And we always go out to eat. The
place we always visit is the Spring House. It was great and we all
enjoyed it. And there are large proportions.

My husband and I went to Myrtle Beach this past summer and we really
enjoyed ourselves. We stayed at the LaQuinta across from Broadway on
the Beach. This is a nice hotel that excepts pets (that is why we
stayed there). Friendly staff, clean rooms, and a great free breakfast
every morning (I don't just mean coffee and muffins) like hot pancakes,
fresh fruit, juice, hot cereal, and lots of other goodies. We also
enjoyed eating at the new Captain Georges. This has great seafood. We
will be back next year:]

A great house to stay in at North Myrtle Beach is called Crescent One.
One block from the beach in North Myrtle. Pets are allowed as well. It
had three bedrooms, 3 bathrooms. Great for families.. You can rent it
through Century 21 I believe it is available for monthly rentals as
well....Have fun. Not expensive either.

We travel to Myrtle Beach and stay for at least 3 months during the
winter time. We have stayed at many hotels but have found that The
Palace Resort if by far the best. The resort has a restaurant/lounge,
heated enclosed pools, a attached parking garage, and everything is
enclosed where you do not have to walk out into the weather unless you
want to. We also enjoy eating at Sara J's in Garden City and golfing at
the TPC in Merrills Inlet. Good Luck.. Hope this Helped

Hi, my family travels to Myrtle beach every year, The very place to
stay is The Palms Resort, 2500 north Ocean Blvd, and the phone number
is 1-800-528-0451. We always stay in the 3 bedroom condo or the
penthouse, it is a very family friendly place and quiet. Always clean
and the staff their are so friendly. We also love to stay at the
captain's quarters, we stay here we are just going for a few days or in
the cooler months, rooms are nice and they have a indoor bowling alley
with a nice game room for the kids, also lots of indoor pools for the
kids to enjoy when it is to cold to swim in the ocean. 901 South Ocean
Blvd, , 1-800-843-3561. now I want to tell you what to BEWARE of:
BlueGreen Vacations... their people stand outside of restaurants and
give you this line about going on a 90 minute tour of shorecrest 2 in
north myrtle beach and you will get a free vacation!!! DON"T GO!!!! my
husband and my mom went to the tour, purchased a condo, and we have
only stepped foot in the condo once and that was on the tour! we can't
get in shore crest as owners but we can get in if we pay what someone
who does not own would . we have to exchange our week with "RCI and go
to parts unknown!! we were told that we would have to pay a $300.00
eminence fee every year ! last year our eminence fee was
$712.00!!!!!!!! I could on and on. just don't get suckered into this,
there is no way out and no one wants to buy it !!

Hi, Just returned from a four night stay at Sandcastle Beach South
Resort and thought it was great. It is a great time to go - uncrowded
pool area and uncrowded beach. Nice weather and mostly seniors,
families with young children and couples. Tropical Storm Isidore
threatened to ruin our stay but the rain mostly stayed away! We had
lovely weather in the lower 80's. Sandcastle was clean, the rooms were
nice (not elegant) and the staff were fine. All the rooms have an
oceanfront balcony! The housekeeping staff were prompt every morning -
usually banging on our door between 9 am and 10 am. They have two nice
pools and 3 hot tubs and a lazy river. All were clean - the pools were
a little warm, but I guess it is fall even though the weather is warm.
They had a great internet rate through their website and the price was
great. We would stay there again. We have stayed at other places in MB
that we would not go to again, but Sandcastle was fine. Try burgers at
River City Cafe - very good hamburgers for a reasonable price. Voted
best burgers on the beach.

Sept. 2002 - My wife and I have been staying at the OCEAN PARK Resort
since 1986 and have always had a wonderful vacation experience. We
usually stay in one of the 1-bedroom executive suite end units (#1004)
which has windows in the bedroom and living room looking North down the
beach. Because we stay on the 10th floor, we have a very panoramic view
at night and spectacular sun rises in the mornings! The end units have
their own washer and dryer in the room, 2 full sized beds in the
bedroom, a Murphy pull down bed in the living room as well as the
typical full kitchen. The front desk, maids and maintenance staff have
always been very helpful to insure we have the best stay possible. The
furniture in the units are constantly being upgraded to insure a
pleasant stay. When we last visited, we found a new couch in the living
room, a totally renewed bathroom (toilet, light fixtures & wallpaper)
as well as new ceramic tile on the floors of the bathroom and kitchen.
They just began providing a free continental breakfast, which made
those early morning walks on the beach, that much more enjoyable! The
Resort has a large indoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi in addition to 2
outdoor pools and a Jacuzzi. The building is next to Hurl Rock Park and
the Spring Garden restaurant is just a few blocks away on Ocean Blvd. I
recommend anyone who wants to enjoy a relaxing stay in Myrtle Beach to
consider OCEAN PARK. Their prices are very reasonable and their
hospitality will keep you coming back year after year! Feel free to

Well, here I go again, packing up to drive 20 hrs. to Myrtle Beach.
It's a LONG DRIVE , but I consider it well worth it. To be able to walk
in the surf and feel the salt air and warm temperatures, longing for
the opportunity to move here, reeling in aspiration that the sight of a
dolphin can give. .. it's worth it. As I drive I can imagine what I
will be digging up when I take my metal detector for it's daily stroll.
I usually see diamonds and gold, but know they are elusive. Maybe I'll
be lucky, one more time. The sight of a gold ring in the scoop, brings
excitement and joy each time. The salt water that corrodes the newly
minted coins, does wonders for my legs and I feel exhilarated as I will
make my way down the beach once more. I see (me) , exhausted , and sun
burnt , as the day draws to a close, I make my way back to the room I
have feverishly sought out for location and price , waiting to empty my
pouch of it's contents of newly lost treasure. Hopefully, A cold beer
will help me keep my cool while I count my treasures and wait for the
morning sun. I will be out at sunrise .. I hear a horn : sorry , my
fault . The green sign says;; Myrtle Beach , 500 miles . !! I'm only
500 hundred miles away from my Dream Home.

A friend of mine goes to myrtle beach twice a year so I figured I'd tag
along to see what s.c was all about. I called up my friend Annette to
go. Well Annette and I went a couple days after my friend heather. We
followed heather's directions exactly. Well my friend Annette wrote
down the condo phone number wrong so we couldn't get in touch with
anyone. And to top it off no one we ask in s.c. knew what a condo was
(never knew a condo was called a plantation) and to make matters worse
we had to sleep in a food lion parking lot until the next morning.
Heather made us feel better by taking us to dick's last resort. What a
place. I recommend it to anyone who wants a laugh. But if you do go
just don't try and insult them too much. If you do you'll probably get
what we did. A bib, a hat, and a lot of insults. All I did was call the
waitress by name and then when she answered I said just checking for
xxxxx. Who would have known she would be so sensitive. I give my first
trip to s.c. an a+. So if you're looking for a vacation spot myrtle
beach is definitely the place to go.

We are looking for a villa (we always stayed at Hilton Head in one of
the plantations) where there is golf, bike trails, pool, tennis - if
anyone has a villa to rent - Please let us know. We have a 6lb dog -
caged at night - doesn't sleep on the bed. Very well behaved. We have
references from other owners if needed. My husband is a golf pro and we
want to go to Myrtle Beach area Easter of 2003 (April) because our son
is attending college near there. We can be close to him and be able to

Help, need advice on where to stay, anyone who has stayed at the
following resorts please respond: Grande Shores, Landmark, The Palace,
Patricia Grand, Sand Castle South, Ocean Creek, or if you would like to
recommend someplace else feel free. Looking for a resort that offers
spacious accommodations (2 Bedroom Oceanfront Unit) with large indoor
and outdoor pools, poolbar, Gameroom, nighttime entertainment etc. Any
information would be appreciated, this is my first trip to Myrtle
Beach, looking to have fun. Leaning towards Grandeshore, heard it was a

pool person so nice pools are more important than the beach area to me.

I've been to Myrtle Beach twice before, and will be going again in two
weeks! My family has always had a great time there, especially at DIXIE
STAMPEDE and MEDIVAL TIMES. The food at both places is delicious,
though very similiar (roast chicken, potato, soup, pastry, etc.). DIXIE
STAMPEDE had unlimited beverages, though, while MEDIVAL TIMES only
allowed one refill. The shows at both places were very entertaining. In
case you don't know, DIXIE has a friendly North and South rivalry
themed show, in which the audience frequently participates. MEDIVAL
TIMES is a knight jousting tournament. Silverware is absent from both
places, but hot wet napkins are provided at the end of both shows, I
believe. A lot of people rave about CAPTAIN BENJAMIN'S and THE ORIGINAL
BENJAMIN'S,(we went to the ORIGINAL) but while there was a wide variety
of items on the buffet, a lot of it was overcooked, or tough from
sitting under warming lights. The overall ambiance was pleasant though.
There were aquariums and model ships, and the staff was friendly. The
price per adult was something like twenty dollars, not worth it. THE
SEA TRAWLER calabash was very good. We ate at THE TEXAS ROADHOUSE one
night as well, very good for steak and ribs. As for sight-seeing
attractions, we all enjoyed RIPLEY's AQUARIUM. It was small, but packed
with fish. There was a very neat glass tunnel full of sharks and
things, that you go through on a moving sidewalk. RIPLEY's BELIEVE IT
OR NOT MUSEUM was expensive, and not worth the money. LEGENDS IN
CONCERT was a very good show. All of the performers looked and sounded
almost exactly like the famous people they were impersonating. We saw
the Blues Brothers, Elvis, Linda Ronstadt, and some others. We also saw
SPIRIT OF THE DANCE, which was excellent. There were other kinds of
dances besides Irish, and had a very good fiddle player. This show
didn't really have a plot, but it was very entertaining. As for mini
golf, PIRATES COVE was a lot of fun. I recommend going at night, when
it isn't so hot and crowded. We went on a couple of boat tours. They
were nice, and relaxing, but be sure to slather on the sunscreen! We
went parasailing (which was lovely but very costly!) and on banana boat
rides (a lot of fun but very bouncy) at SEA DOG PARASAILING.
Parasailing is somewhere around eighty dollars for two people (if I
remember correctly). You get a nice speedboat ride, and then about
fifteen minutes up in the air. THE FAMILY KINGDOM AMUSEMENT PARK was
enjoyable, too. I'm writing this is 2002, so it's current!!! Have a
nice trip to Myrtle Beach!

My daughter is planning to be married at Myrtle Beach next May. Do you
have any suggestions of pretty placec to get married on the beach? We

My family and I vacationed in Myrtle Beach at the Sea Mist Resort, july
of 2002. After reading some of the horror stories over the internet we
were very worried as to what to expect. What? The Sea Mist was
awesome!! My wife, our 3 kids ages from 8 to 14, and myself had the
best beach vacation ever. The oceanfront room in the tides building was
wonderful, it was no 5 star room but then again we didn't spend a kings
ransom for it. It was well furnished had a quaint atmosphere and was
fine. The staff at the Sea Mist were "GREAT". They greeted you always
with a friendly smile and were always happy to help you with any
question. The water park at the resort was fabulous my kids spent a
good part of the day there as well as my wife and I. The family kingdom
amusement and waterpark were equally great and admission was free with
the family value package offered by Sea Mist. We will be returning to
the Sea Mist and my advice to anyone planning to vacation there is
don't believe everything you read on the internet. We give the Sea Mist
two thumbs up. And would recommend it to everyone with a family. Also
the restuarants and ice cream parlors were great. Thanks to the Ammons
Family and all the wonderful staff at the Sea Mist, we will be seeing
you again in the near future.

We are planning to visit MB in Aug. for vacation. We have booked a
townhouses that is affiliated with the Thunderbird Motel and the Crown
Reef Resort. The townhouses are new and located just across the street
from the Thunderbird. Has anyone seen or heard about the townhouses?
Also, what are some attractions for couple w/ 2 yrs old son? Best
seafood places to eat?

My family just returned from our yearly vacation to MB on
8/4/02. Every year we book directly through the resort/hotel that we
stay at. Each year we try a different place and have always been
pleased with where we staid. This year we tried Conodlux. What a
mistake! The person who took our reserv. was very nice. We stayed at
Bay Watch. They just started building the 3rd tower and our room was
directly at the construction site. We had to listen to the constr.
noise starting at 7:30 a.m. We called Condolux to see if they could do
anything for us. We had to speak to Sandy the office manager. She was
the most rude and obnoxious person I ever spoke to. She should not be
in a position to deal with the public. Her attitude ruined our
vacation. Sandy certainly was not customer friendly. As long as she is
running the show there I certainly would not recommend Condolux to
anyone. I will say though that the Staff at Bay Watch were wonderful.
They go out of their way to make sure you are having a great time. The
only thing I did not like was there were not enough loung chairs by the
pool. Everything else there was great! Just won't go through Condolux
to stay there!

First time to MB and last. Motel was ok. Traffic was worst than
Atlanta. Rude, crude and unprofessional lifeguard on stand #32. But the
most appalling and assinine thing was no umbrella is allowed on the
beach beyond the lifeguard stand and must be 10 ft from one another in
a parallel line with the lifeguard stand. This is a real joke to me.
I have been to a lot of beaches and never, ever have I heard of such a
law regarding umbrellas not allowed on the beach. I'll stick with the
Flordia an Georgia beaches, thank you.

North Myrtle Beach is a little quieter! Love Barefoot Landing - DON'T
MISS THE TIGERS - GEMS OF THE JUNGLE. It is without a doubt the Most
Wonderful experience! For Shopping don't miss B&B ANTIQUES MALL just
north of Barefoot Landing and they are open year round from 9 to 9
(good place to work off your meal)- It is a trip down memory lane.
There is definitely something for everyone even a candy shop in back!

Our family havs been vacationing in N. Myrtle Beach for the past three
years - taking our daughter, her friend and her mother. The first two
times we rented an ocean front through White Realty, and were very
pleased. This year we tried something different by staying at the Blue
Water Inn. This is a mom and pop operation, and while mom and pop are
very nice, the Inn isn't. I made the reservation months ago, asking for
two (2) bedrooms, as in two separate rooms. We arrived at the Inn,
checked in to our "suite" and found there was only one bedroom with one
king sized bed. There wasn't enough room in there to sling a cat, or a
pair of shoes! The stove was small as was the counter space. The sink
was next to the stove, and getting the dishes to the counter meant
dripping water over the stove and floor. There were no closets, as we
know them - just a little alcove w/a rod and a few hangers w/an
overhead shelf. The sitting area had a king sized sleeper sofa that,
when pulled out, left no room to walk around in the room. We did have
maid service every day, and on Wednesday's they changed the linens. The
pool was cloudy and murky every day. I never saw clear water. And other
tenants with children didn't exercise much control over them. I saw
kids spitting in the pool. Trying to sit on the deck was a nuisance
because we kept getting hit by flying balls and pool toys while the
parents just smiled. We won't be going to this facility again.

As a teen, my family vacationed (2 weeks) in Myrtle Beach for several
consecutive summers. As an adults, my sisters and I are determined to
continue the tradition. Our teen children love MB--just being on the
beach. We stay at the Sea Horn--a family-run, family-oriented place. We
find the locals to be friendly and nice. Myrtle Beach is the perfect
place for a wonderful family vacation. I can't wait to go back! (July

My family visited the steers calabash restaurant in north myrtle beach
on june 22, 2002. When we entered the restaurant i had the coupon book
in my hand. We were asked by the hostess how many we had and i said 5
adults and 1 child. At no time were we asked if we had any coupons.
When the waitress came to our table i gave her the coupon for a child's
buffet free. She said she would give it to the hostess. When we
finished our dinner and were ready to pay an older gentleman standing
by the woman at the cast register yelled" no coupon " as we approached.
I had no idea what he meant, but i told the lady that we had a coupon
for one child, which we had given to the waitress. He said we could not
use the coupon because we had not said we had it when we entered the
restaurant. I explained that no one had asked us and he said the
hostess had down that we were asked, but had none. This was not true. I
asked if it said on the coupon who to present it to and he said no, but
that's was how it was. I told him that I felt it was unfair to treat
patrons in that way. He asked me where the child was and I pointed out
my 10 year old daughter. He said it wouldn't work anyway because she
was over the 4 and one half feet rule! The people behind me laughed
because the whole thing was so ridiculous. I again asked him where the
4 1/2 feet requirement was posted and he told me nowhere. This is just
a warning to those of you headed to the beach to not make the same
mistake we did. (the food was not especially good either.)

Myrtle Beach trip, June 26-29, 2002 We just returned from a trip to
Myrtle Beach and stayed at The Paradise Inn. We have stayed at older
hotels and have never encountered the problems we had on this stay. We
checked into three hotel rooms within three nights at this hotel... The
first room had a horrible odor.. something between vomit and rotten
milk and there was reminants of food, coke cans and wrappers under the
bed. We complained and got a bottle of Lysol from the office. The Lysol
cleared the air for about five minutes. They moved us to another room
that didn't have an efficiency but an efficiency would be available the
following night. The following night we were to be moved back to an
efficiency. The office gave us a room number and said it would be clear
in ten minutes. We moved all our stuff only to find out that the room
wasn't even clear of the people staying in it. Then they told us to
move up about three levels. As we're gathering up our stuff once again,
we're told to go to a different room, which turned out to be ocean
front. The cleanest room so far. There was a garbage can outside our
door and it was left overflowing and smelling. I complained to the
office. Then the trash was strewn down the steps. The next day it
smelled like someone left a rotting fish in the can and I complained
once again. Long story short, we thought we booked four nights and we
get a call in the middle of the day saying we were supposed to be
checked out... that was the final straw and we packed our bags and fled
the Atlantic "Parasite" Inn. Stay away from this place!!

I am a single mom on a budget who wants to visit MB in early August.
Can anyone suggest a nice, clean hotel preferably on the beach but
across the street would be fine, that is inexpensive - perhaps in the
$45 - $65 a night range. I am traveling with my 3 teens. I would also

6/21/02 Highly recommended!!!! Stay at the Holiday Inn at Coquina
Harbor in Little River, SC for a great Myrtle Beach vacation. It is a
relaxing, CLEAN, NEW hotel. It overlooks a beautiful marina and
features a boardwalk. I was a little apprehensive at first because it
seemed far from the action. However, it is only 3 miles to a very
uncrowded beach - Cherry Grove. What a nice surprise! Also, it is only
about 6 miles to Calabash,NC - the seafood capital of the world. We
went there one night for dinner. There is probably 15 seafood buffets
to chose from for only $11.95 all you can eat. Myrtle Beach and North
Myrtle Beach attractions are only about 15 minutes from Little River so
we didn't miss anything. What was really nice about this hotel was
their complementary afternoon homemade chocolate chip cookies and
lemonade. I am a teacher, and thus, have to be very budget conscious so
the Holiday Inn was an excellent choice for us. Kids 12 and under eat
all meals free at Holiday Inn so we saved a lot of money on breakfasts,
and had some dinners there, too. It was good food and a friendly staff.
I couldn't have afforded all the attractions like the Pavilion,
Ripley's Aquarium, Alligator Farm, Nascar SpeedPark, Medieval Times,
outlet mall shopping, and the Dixie Stampede without this substantial
savings and restful nights' sleep!

I have stayed at Myrtle Beach since I was a kid. I love the ocean
and the nightlife down there and nothing anymore than the hot chicks.
LOL. I have stayed at the Aloha, Ramada Resort, Mustang Inn, and the
Teakwood Motel. All are non Oceanside and just a motor inn but i like
to spend my money playing games at the fun plaza or something like

We go to M.B. every year. We stay at the Sand Castles, South. It's
the best! I love to eat at Granny's Kitchen. It has the best breakfast
buffet in town and their prices are just right for your everyday
budget. My favorite place to go is Rilpley's aquarium. I love to walk
through the tunnel and have the fish swim all around me. And I like to
try to feed the stingrays. I also like to eat at NASCAR Cafe. It's a
liitle high priced, but the food is great. And if you're a NASCAR fan
it's the place to go. You never know what you might find in their store
and the prices vary on the NASCAR items.

Hi Folks! I have been going to Myrtle Beach since I was a little
girl, I'm 46 now and it is still the best place to vacation for me.
There is a new seafood place in Surfside called Crabby Mike's to go eat
seafood. It is a bit pricey @ $25 each person but all you can eat. If
you love Oysters , you have to visit the place in Murrell's Inlet
called Nance's. They have the best oysters I ever had. Flea Market
people take heed to the best indoor Flea Market in Myrtle Beach is on
the south side of town on your way to Surfside. It is on the right and
they have tons of everything there. For the absolutely best Pecan pie
you ever had in your life go to the shop inside of Waccamaw shopping. I
always get one to bring back home with me. I have stayed at the Grand
Strand Motel for years and would highly recommend it to any family or
single. They are a great Family owned Motel and have a hot tub, lazy
river and nice pool not to mention discount tickets to attractions and
have their own website so you can check it out. Have a fantastic

Not so pleasant experience w/Patricia Grand. Upon check-in, we were
told they did not receive our reservation, then told us they lost our
reservation after we produced a confirmation number. Then blamed the
on-line booking system. Not very helpful. Did not have a room available
(our anniversary). Ended up staying in their sister "resort",
Carolinian. Believe me, this is not a resort by any stretch of the
imagination. PGR needs some work on customer service and facility
maintenance (at the latter).

much on the net about this place, it's just the cheapest I could find.
Has anyone stayed there/know anything about it? I'm kinda leary about
staying at a place for $45 a night, because too often you end up
getting what you pay for. I've read some of the horror stories about
staying in hotels for twice that price, so I hope it's a nice place to

I have been visiting Myrtle Beach for the past two years, and will
be returning 5/31/02. We stay at a condo called th Anchorage, and it is
awesome. You can sit on your balcony and watched the ocean, or cross
the street and lay on the beach. I love going to Medieval Times, and
Broadway on the Beach. You will never run out of things to do. The
Pavilion is very happening also, but the strip is always so crowded
with young kids showing off thier daddy's cars. There are also alot of
buffets to choose from. My favorite is Captain Benjamin's. The food and
hospitality is excellent there!

My husband i took our 5 children to mb last year . Everyone had a
real blast. We stayed at the holiday sands south . It was clean, the
people were friendly, there was enough to keep all interested. The ages
were 9, 11, 16,17 and 19. We were there to enjoy the beach, not
anything else. To see the ocean. The weather was wonderful and it could
not of beeen nicer. The south end of myrtle beach is for families and

more teenage stuff goes on. Mine didnt like that end when we
travel we dont get very hungry so we only eat one meal, and we didnt
know where to eat out at. Hopefully we can find out

Some people are asking where is a good place to stay if you are a
teen. Well I went for senior beach week 2 years ago and we stayed at
the Polynesian, it was pretty nice and wasn't very expensive. Most of
all they rent to 18 year olds rather than 21.

beach the weather was nice and we had fun. Some clubs to hit are the
shark club and Baja club. The shark club was cool because it was foam

We have been staying at the Yachtsman Resort for the past 10-12
years. The only reason we do is that we have family that are timeshare
owners there. Believe me, if we had to pay to stay there, we would stay
somewhere else! It is convenient to the beach, rides, etc. but is
overpriced and not kept up very well. The furniture looks like
something from the fifties. They rarely have a matched set of silver,
glassware and we even had to ask last year to get a decent frying pan
to cook in. The TV in the living room is old, and in a armoire so that
you can only watch it if there is enough room on the sofa to sit. The
parking is rediculas. It's across the street and they tell you that
there's 24 hour security. Hey, but guess what! There's not!!!!!!! The
security people act as if they have a chip on their shoulder or are too
good to answer or help you with any problems. The activities dept is a
JOKE! They are supposed to have all these things to do but @ what they
call the ""Owners Party"" on Monday night we were served hot dogs
(nothing but mustard, ketchup, pickle relish to go on them) and
hamburgers (the same) and stale potato chips of which you had to get a
chip to be served and depending on the color of the chip determined how
long you will wait in line. The entertainment was also ""really a nice
one"". Don't get me wrong, it's better than staying at the Comet Motor
Inn about 6-7 blocks over, but nothing is as the RCI exchange books and
the advertisements say. My family pays a good amount for each of the
weeks they own -each year. I've heard them say time and time again
-that if they could do it over- they would never buy the timeshare unit
thru the Yachtsman Resort. We have exchanged and stayed in some really
nice and deserving resorts but this one should be taken out of the RCI
exchange book! Please, if you're looking for a nice place to stay at
Myrtle Beach please consider the places like the Sands Ocean Clubs, The
Reefs Resort and some of the other Very Nice Places. That way you want
be disappointed when coming to the beach. If I can help you with any

but they want an adult to go, and none of my friends or I want an adult
to come with us because we don't adult supervision. My parents are

This is long, but for anyone who wants to have a more detailed
description about the Sea Mist resort - this is it! Our family of five
traveled from Ontario, Canada, to stay at the Sea Mist Oceanfront
Resort, July 22-29,2001. We were on the Family Value Package deal which
included free daily passes to the Family Kingdom Amusement Park and
Oceanfront Waterpark. This was a big hit with our three boys and this
is what made our stay here worthwhile. The Sea Mist resort is quite
large and spans both sides of South Ocean Blvd. It appears as if they
bought our numerous hotels to create this resort. The resort boasts 17
pools. Being so large and spread out, we only saw six! We stayed in the
Spray Building on the ocean side of Ocean Blvd. Our room was a bit run
down and included a King-size bed, pull-out murphy bed, kitchenette and
in-room safe. Our patio backed onto a driveway, so the view was nothing
spectacular. Being on the ground floor, our patio was merely a dirt
flowerbed. The patio chairs were always covered in dirt and so were not
much use. The microwave was situated on a table and the cord was too
short to reach the outlet. Since the table was fastened to the wall, we
had to place the microwave on a chair in order to plug it in. It seemed
as if the door to our room was paper thin as we could hear everything
through it. Each morning around 7:00 a.m. we were awakened to the loud
chatter of the housekeeping staff who congregated out in the hall to
talk and laugh and have a good time socializing at the expense of our
sleep) before starting work sometime after 7:30 a.m. The Sea Mist has
an on-site waterpark and large Little Tikes playground. (Note that the
playground is situated inside the waterpark and so is only opened
during the waterparks hours of operation. I can't remember the exact
time that it closed, but I think it was 5:00 p.m.). Being on the Family
Value Package deal, entrance to the on-site waterpark was Free -
otherwise it would cost 2:00/person. The waterpark was on the other
side of Ocean Blvd. Crossing the street can be quite a challenge due to
heavy traffic. There is an underground tunnel (the walls are painted to
look like an aquarium), which for safety reasons, the Resort recommends
you take, but it requires climbing up and down numerous steps - which
is a real inconvenience if you have a stroller! We were glad that our
room was located on the Ocean side. It would have been a real hassle to
carry pails, shovels, boogie boards, rafts, blankets, beach umbrella...etc..to
the beach plus cross busy Ocean Blvd. with 3 young kids! The beach in
front of the resort was very nice. Nice wide sandy area and big waves.
You can bring along your own beach umbrella and chairs or rent them
from the lifeguards for a fee. Upon arrival, the Activities Desk took a
family picture. This is taken in another building where the Arcade is
located{behind the on-site waterpark). This photo is used as your pass
to get into the Family Kingdom Amusement Park (which opened at 4:00
p.m. after the heat of the day) and Oceanfront Waterpark (which closed
at 6:00 p.m.), located about 1 1/2miles away. When you arrive at the
front gate, they simply look you up on the computer to see if your
faces match to the photo taken. Both the Amusement Park and Waterpark
had a special entrance for Sea Mist guests. It was great to be able to
walk up to the front of the lineups to enter the parks. Parking was a
problem at the Resort. There is not nearly enough parking on the Ocean
side - so your chances of getting a spot near your building is minimal.
There is a parking garage on the other side of Ocean Blvd., behind the
on-site waterpark, where you end up parking your car. My husband often
dropped me and the boys off at our building, with any packages, then
went over to the parking garage to park the car and walk back again!
Our stay here included one free buffet breakfast at Teena's restaurant,
which is located in the building next to the front desk. There was a
good selection of food and it was good, however it was busy and there
were line-ups at the buffet tables. The people at the Activities desk
were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Your could
book a show or outing ie: Medieval Times/Ripley's Aquarium from the
Activities Desk and have it charged to your room. We bought tickets to
attend a Caribbean festival and dinner at the hotel but due to rain in
the afternoon, it was cancelled. Upon check-out, we were still charged
for this event, however they deducted this amount from our bill without
any hassles. We did have daily maid service and they kept the room
clean. The kiddie's pool is also very nice. It included a dinosaur
slide, small waterslide and a rain tree. If you decide to stay at the
Sea Mist, it is recommended that you make reservations. Even though it
is a large resort with many different rooms and room types available,
they were completely filled up during our stay here.
