My husband and I often take trips to Myrtle Beach. Not just in the
summer, through out the year as well. We always stay at the Caravelle
resort hotel. We're not fancy people ,we go to relax. All we want is a
clean, nice place to stay. It has several pools, kiddie pools, a lazy
river and hot tub Jacuzzi's. One thing that is important to me is a
clean bathroom, and the Caravelle does not disappoint. The Caravelle
hotel is different than the Caravelle tower though (same people own
it). We spent April 13,14, and15,2001 there, if we had gone there the
very first time we came to Myrtle we would have never stayed again.
While it was clean and all it did not compare to the Caravelle hotel.
The Caravelle is great for people who don't want to be caught up in the
teenage crowd as it is about 10 minutes from the pavilion. It's on the
ocean, and we have never had any bad service. The only downfall is
probably during peak seasons the elevators are always full.

Please Help - my husband and I (we're both over 59) and our standard
poodle (10 years old) are looking to rent anoceanfront condo for the
month of February 2002. It is sooooooo hard to find a nice oceanfront
condo that allows pets. We spent last February at Tybee Island, Georgia
only because I found a condo owner that would allow our dog but we love
Myrtle Beach and would love to be able to come there. Thank you

Hello, I've been sifting through site after site trying to find the
best hotel to stay at this summer, along the lines of the 2nd or 3rd
week of June 2001. I'm looking for a hotel that has Jacuzzi in the
rooms. I'd appreciate any suggestions or input via email or this forum
[email preferred].These are the hotels that I've been looking at:• The
Windsurfer• The Sandy Beaches Resort• The Crown Reef (Probably a little
more that I want to pay)• By the Sea• Boardwalk Beach• Surfside Thanks
very much!-Hope

Ok well here's some words of advice from someone who has been in
college for awhile and has been going to Myrtle Beach for nearly 20
years. If you are going to the beach for graduation, you should have
reserved your room long before April. More like January or February at
the LATEST. It is much better to find a place to stay, and a nice one.
If you are still looking this late in the year, and do find a room,
there is a way to get around the age limitations. Get a parent to
reserve the room for you. April 2001

HELMS VISTA MOTEL - North Myrtle Beach...this is the greatest family
place to stay. We spent 5 days there last summer with 9 of us in a
cabana suite and wait a wonderful time we had It is not a 5 star hotel
but is very relaxing and you don't have to worry about trekking sand
into the room. Check it out. You can get the phone number and address
atmyrtlebeachlive.com in the lodging section. I tried to email Desiree
directly but it didn't go through. Hope this can be posted. Desiree
-- Laurie Grimm (LbbGrimm@aol.com) - 05/02/2001
I saw your email on the Myrtle Beach Travelogue web site and have a
great family place to stay in North Myrtle Beach. My family (4 of us)
along with my Sister, her husband and two Children and our mother took
a great trip to NMB last August and stayed at the Helms Vista motel.
You can find their phone number and information atMyrtleBeachLive.com
under their lodging section. It is definitely a family motel. It has
been there for about 40 years but even though it's not fancy it is very
relaxing. They are on the beach just off from Main Street in North
Myrtle Beach. There are arcades and stores in the area and of course
you aren't far from everything else in Myrtle Beach. We stayed in one
of their 7 Cabana rooms/suites on the third floor. They are made up of
two bed rooms with two double beds & bath in each, and a kitchen
section. You can rent just one of the bed rooms/bathrooms and the
kitchen. We found the kitchen area wonderful, with a couch, table
chairs, TV etc. and pots/pans, dishes, etc. We would getup in the
morning and have a bite to eat, then go on the beach or to the pool for
the morning. Then we got cleaned up and went out for lunch since the
crowds are generally down then. (Got enough lunch to bring home plenty
for dinner) Spent the hot afternoon in the room resting then went back
out to beach/pool about 3:30 or 4, then had dinner in the room. It was
the most relaxing vacation ever. Unless you are looking for a big motel
with lots of stuff you can't really beat this and the price was very
good. We were there in early August and got a great deal. Let me know
what you decide and have a great time in at the beach. I am very
familiar with that area. My parents had a beach house just down the
road from that motel from about 1965 to about 1984. I then lived in
Myrtle Beach from 1985 to 1987. If you go out and venture down into
Myrtle Beach try out Benjamin's Original Calabash Style Seafood (at the
south end of Restaurant Row) or Sir John's Seafood at about 4th ave
South in MB. Sir John's is owned by some of my best friends and both
restaurants offer good food Buffet style. Also you can go over the
Calabash, North Carolina and have some great food - any place there is
good. and they serve lots of it.

Hi, we've just booked a room in Compass Cove for a few nights next
week. Could somebody tell us about this hotel? What would you recommend
to do while at Myrtle Beach? We're expecting a baby this August and
this is our last romantic get-away. Thanks, Julia.

Try the HELMS VISTA in North Myrtle Beach for a great, simple family
vacation spot. They are great, not too expensive and right on the
water.

I jus wanna say that we have stayed at the Crown Reef the past 3 years
and it really is the best, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. I am 17 years
old and that is the place to go to meet teens. I swear, Ive never met
so many people every year there. I love it, me and a few of my friends
are going down June 11-17 to stay there again. I cant wait, just hope
this year is as fun as the rest.

We have been going to Myrtle Beach for 13 years now. We always go
Memorial Week. We use to go for the weekend but the bikers situation
has gotten too bad so we go on Memorial Monday and leave on Saturday.
We have been staying at a family owned and operated motel called
Firebird. It is extremely clean and affordable and only rents to
couples and families. They have a large variety of accommodations to
fit any family. Please give them a try I know you will love them. You
can tell the Manager Debbie I told you to call. The number to reach
them is 1-800-852-7032 5/17/01. They also have a website I think it is
firebirdinn.com.

My family has been visiting Myrtle Beach since I was 8 years old. Every
year it was a family vacation to say the least! I am now 25 and still
going every year and I now live in Florida. I can say I have probably
stayed in almost EVERY hotel on the grand strand and have only had a
few problems. Crown Reef and The Yachtsman are of course THE BEST if
you want to hand them your arm and leg when you walk in the door, but
their great for those of us who have young kids myself included now.
Hurl Rock and Poindexter have been the best as far as price and
accommodations. I think the only two restaurants I have eaten at that I
WOULD NOT recommend for anyone who doesn't want a friendly trip to the
hospital after would be Friendly's and Denny's (both places we waited
almost 45 minutes to sit down and 25 for our drinks so by the time we
ate it was an hour and a half later and the food was disgusting!!!!)
Nightlife is wonderful for the club and bar people. Xanadu is awesome,
Tiki Club not too bad, Club Millenium exceptional and Mother Fletchers
no comment. But the club that sticks out in my mind is The Masters. A
club for the single people looking to have relaxing fun. Yes it is a
strip club with both male and female dancers (seperated of course) and
a sports bar with GREAT FOOD and after hours parties. Myself being
female and my friends go to The Chippendale Room and have a blast every
time we go. There are woman of all ages, sorry no men allowed, and you
even see a mother/daughter duo once in awhile. They cater to
bachlorette parties, birthdays and yes even DIVORCE parties. The men
are great and no woman can resist taking her eyes off stage when she
sees her favorite cowboy, hitchiker, actor or even Batman on stage! I
would recommend this to anyone that is in the area and looking for
adult fun. No one under 18 is allowed in The Chippendale Room and I
believe its 21 on the Masters Side. I have been in the female side with
a guy friend of mine once and being honest there are some beautiful
women in there. From what I saw there were at least 30-40 women there.
All shapes, sizes and nationalities. 5/21/01

Try Unit 217 at St. Johns Inn. Across from beach on exclusve northern
end of North Ocean Boulevard. Many amenities at The Caravelle Resort.
Pet Friendly. Inexpensive. Unit 217 has 2queen beds and is an
efficiency. Balcony overlooks the pool. Wonderful grounds. Enjoy!

child 2 yrs old. I would like something oceanfront with a large kiddie

Just a word of warning: Miyabi steak and sushi bar has great food and a
good teppanyaki show, but be prepared to be ushered out after one hour;
We went to the one on the North end of Myrtle Beach once for sushi and
another for the teppanyaki show and on the latter time it became
obvious that the management is running a cattle ranch; ""Fill 'em
up,move 'em out."" One hour and you are pressured to pay your check,
get your to-go box and hit the door. We won't be back.
-- (lnease2@hotmail.com) - 06/09/2001
DON'T STAY AT THE FOUNTAINBLEAU INN at Myrtle Beach. It is dirty,
run-down and nothing like the brochure shows. It also has roaches
crawling around at 3:00 in the morning. We reserved a room for six
nights, but left the next morning. The clerk refused to refund the
unused days over$600! It has an ""unacceptable"" rating with the Better
Business Bureau from previous complaints.

we have visited myrtle beach two of the last three years. We love
myrtle beach. This year we (18 of us) are going to try north myrtle
beach. We are staying at the o.d.resort. It is three years old and
looks pretty nice. We have nothing but fun in myrtle beach. There is
always something to do and someplace new to eat just around the corner.
I love to wake up early and watch the sun come up, then take a walk
down the beach. It is so peaceful at that time of morning. looking
forward to relaxing by the pool all day and playing all night. I know I
won't want to come back home!!!!

We have been going to Myrtle Beach for years. The worse trip I can
remember was the stay at Sea Oats Motel. It was a nightmare from the
start. Our non smoking rooms smelled like an ashtray and the beds
spreads had cigarette holes all in them. After getting in the shower I
noticed a guy next door watching me from a hole in the wall where the
window used to be . Service was lousy and room was the worst in 10years
of coming to the beach. We plan on staying at the Patrica grand this
year hope it is nice!!!

I have a family of 3 and we love staying at ocean lakes campground,
cause it is more fun for our 6 yr. Old son, more things to do than in a
hotel. The only thing is we have a 1yr. Old chihuahua and our son wants
her with us to he is real attached. Does anyone know of anyone in the
ocean lakes campground that will allow pets. If so please email me
atparcwksp@sitestar.net thank you.
-- Sandy (parcwksp@sitestar.net) - 6/22/01
I have been going to Myrtle Beach for about 11 years now. This year
will be 12. I've gone to pretty much every store and restaurant there.
My favorites include; Medieval Times and Dixie Stamped ( these are
places where you eat and watch an amazing show )I am only thirteen but
if you have younger kids, this is an amazing, fun filled vacation to
take. Especially if you are a golfer or just enjoy the marvolous sound
of the ocean. I have to mention the K&W Cafeteria. I know it has the
awful word cafeteria in it, but if you want great food for a reasonable
price, I highly recommend it. One of the Eagle's store's even have a
shark filled tank. And if you would like to see more fish, there is
Ripley's Aquarium with a moving floor which takes you to see
unbelievable fish. And you even get to touch some of them like; sharks,
stingrays, abd horseshoe crabs. As you can see, North Myrtal Beach is a
great family vacation place. If you have any farther q's E-mail me!

My family just returned from our trip to Myrtle Beach. I have been
going there (camping)since I was 12.I never could get my husband to
camp, so now we go to The WaveRider (nice pool) and they have a indoor
one in case the weather is bad (rarely) I convinced my husband to
honeymoon there and we have been going back for 26 yrs. I wish I had
invested in property. Broadway at the Beach is great, but don't miss
Barefoot landing. I was disappointed Waccamaw went under, but the other
stores are still there. I have been to Brookgreen Gardens at least 3
times. I love going into the Gay Dolphin and looking at the shark teeth
and jewelry. We always eat at the Seafare (Murrells Inlet) We go hungry
and head for the crab legs, mussels and scallops. We skip the salads
and breads and concentrate on the seafood. There is a nice boardwalk
along the Inlet and you can watch the Herons and other marsh birds come
in to feed. Get up early for an Ocean sunrise and take your camera. I
have a ton of those pictures and they are different each time I shoot.
We have recently started to go to Charleston for a day trip. Go early
so you beat the heat. It is about 90 min. to get there and the drive
over the bridge is really cool!! This trip we went to THE HOUSE OF THE
BLUESAND SAW THE MONKEES. We ate at the restaurant so we could (July 5,
2001)get in before general admission. The food was great (Southern and
large portions for the money). Each time I leave Myrtle Beach. it gets
harder, I probably will head there in Feb. (midwinter break). Pack your
days in because there is a ton of stuff to choice from. ENJOY!!w
-- Mary Lund (mlund25@hotmail) - 7/08/01
For starters....stay away from any of the "roach motels" near the
pavilion. Especially "By-the-sea". It should be labeled
"Dump-by-the-Sea". The window was broken in the bathroom (it wouldn't
close and was located right beside the Pool area). No free ice, no
working refrigerator, nasty linens and everything. You get what ya pay
for. Cheap room equals filthy accommodations. On the other end of the
spectrum our stay at the CROWN REEF was "fantabuloso". It was one year
old when we stayed there and we were impressed. The swamp fox (now
called compass cove) was also nice. It was not as clean as we would
have liked but it is an older place. Also, the whispering surf (across
the street from the beach) is a dud! We had an excellent (ha) view of
an alley with a non stop barking dog. Save yourself the bucks and don't
go there. The sea horn is nice for what you pay. It's not extravagant,
but neither are the rooms. It does have an odor but the staff is pretty
nice. This year, we tried to go back to crown reef, but they're all
booked up. We're trying the LANDMARK. I've been reading and find
nothing negative in the remarks that have submitted. Sure hope it's
everything we expect it to be. The WORST restaurant is FLO's!!!!!! The
alligator tasted like... (well, I am trying to come up with a
description, but my vocabulary fails me in this...), the hats hanging
overhead are dusty, stinky, and I was afraid that any minute some dirt
or dust was going to fall on us. We ate outside and the scenery out
there was no better. Swampish and sewer looking pipes were everywhere.
Save your money. The alligator ribs, alligator stew, and gator
hushpuppies were terrible. I'll stick to red lobster. I have found that
Damons ribs are great. (yum) Other great places to eat are Texans steak
house and Thorneys. Breakfast at Woodhaven is the best. Clean and the
staff is great.

I just got back from myrtle beach. I would like to tell you about where
I stayed. The Sandcastle Hotel was rated as a viewers pick, this is why
I choose it. I stayed form 7/01/01 to 7/06/01. This is by far the worst
hotel I have ever stayed at. The room smelled, had mildew growing on
the walls, there was a leak behind a wall causing the carpet to get so
wet it was growing fungus. There were problems with the lights and door
locks. When we first used the deadbolt, it was broke it would not
reopen, locking using the room. The maid service was horrendous. Rooms
were not cleaned regularly. One day, when the room was finally cleaned,
the door was left open anyone to walk in. This is by far a terrible
hotel, also expensive, $193. a night. I can't believe this was rated a
viewers pick. I hope you remove it from your listing.

Hi. I was just wondering if anyone has stayed at The Sandy Beach
Resort. I found an internet special for Sept. 3-6 for$56 a night. I
have looked it up on the internet and recieved info through the mail.
It looks like it is very nice. Just thought somebody might be able to
give me some info. I'll post again after our visit to tell what it was
like, meanwhile if anybody can give me any other info it would be
appreciated.

We just returned from our trip 7/14-7/19/2001 to Myrtle Beach. We had a
great time. We stayed at The Crown Reef and were very pleased with our
room. It is a bit pricey but very clean and didn't have that ""beach
motel odor"" we have experienced in the past. The parking was by far
the best we have ever had at MB with an extra large parking garage with
nicely sized spaces, not like the tiny spots we have tried to get into
before. The pools are very crowded but I've come to realize that if you
go to the beach in July lots of other people will be there, too! We ate
next door to the property at Damon's and it was great. We did lots of
attractions: Medieval Times, Ripley's Aquarium, The Butterfly Pavilion,
Pirates of the Carolinas, Imax theatre at Broadway at the beach, Family
Kingdom Amusement Park, Build-A-Bear Workshop (Which was my children's
favorite) Planet Hollywood - all were great! Nascar Raceway was a HUGE
disappointment and not at all worth the money. We had tried going in
the evening and the lines were too long. They advertise 10 am as their
opening time so my husband took our son back & paid their $24.95 &
$14.95 ticket price and went in to find only TWO rides going and only
one that our 8 yr old was able todrive!~ NOT a good experience at
all!!!! But everything else was terrific in MB and we can't wait to go
back.

Just returned from a Myrtle vacation July 16th - 23rd,2001. We stayed
at the LANDMARK Resort and I will give you the highlights.. Rooms were
nice (we had an angle 2 room w/kitchen & 2 balconies), two double beds
in one room were great but the pull down double in the other room will
leave you with spring marks on your body as it is a single box spring
like mattress (the two 14 year olds got the good beds, grrrr....).
Bathrooms and kitchen were new and very nice and well equipped. Bring
some towels cuz what you give you is what you get (even after arguing
with the front desk for more). We were on the 12th floor middle on the
Southside. I suggest the North side so you don't get the afternoon sun,
or get an oceanfront, which is also shady in the afternoon (who feels
like sitting in the sun after being on the beach all day). Don't get
the 4th floor on the Southside as this is where the parking garage
walkover is located (noisy). The hotel as a whole could use some repair
work, ceilings, doors etc. Pool area is great especially if you have
young ones... they will have a ball, as there is a lot variation of
pools, hot tubs, and lazy rivers to choose from. As for the area
attractions, Grand Prix was great, Medieval Times was awesome (bring
your vocal cords), Dixie Stampede was a lot of fun, Ripley's museum was
weird and fun, and Parasailing (for the 14 year olds) was mixed (one
for and one against ..smile..). All in all a great vacation. I give the
Landmark a 6-7 out of 10 but suggest checking out the Palace next door.
The configuration of that hotel is arrow shaped allowing the side room
balconies to directly face the beach. The trade off is the inside hotel
pool area which I would think that the Landmark has over all other
hotels in the area.

is offering specials in Sept. that are very cheap. They have a great

We have never stayed here and are anxious to see what it is like.

We last visited North Myrtle Beach Jan. to Mar. 2000.We found this
condo called Sun Colony and we can highly recommend it . The condo was
2 brm. and 2 bath with fully equipped kitchen. They provided free golf
at many good courses. No one can match their deal and it's all newly
construction. Included was outdoor clean heated pool and jacuzzi, gaz
barbque, screened large balcony. Their staff was very friendly and
helpful. They do have a website to view the condo and grounds. We plan
to return again this spring.

I am looking for a house that will rent to a group of 10 or less
college students, preferably on the oceanfront but other locations
would be great too. It will be for the late summer of 2002. If anyone
has suggestions or properties for rent please contact me. Thank you.

We are looking for a house, or two, in South Myrtle. This has been hard
because there are 21 of us, and most places don't want 21 teenagers
stay in one house. This is the week of June 20th or so. If we had two
houses we would like them close together. If anyone has any information
PLEASE e-mail me! I know its really late but any information would be
awesome! Thank you very much!:)Melissa (Melissax03@msn.com)

Me and about 10 of my friends are planning to go to the beach June
17-24. We are only 18 years old, so we need some hotels that allow 18
year olds to check in, we also want the hotel near the pavilion and
other attractions. And also oceanfront. Please help us!!

We are looking for a nice place to stay the week of June 10 or 11,
but most say they won't take reservations for 18 year olds. We would
like to stay near the Water park & Pav. Does anyone have the names of
places that will rent to someone this age? Its a graduation present
from our parents, but I didn't know it would be this difficult.

Hello, We are planning a trip to Myrtle Beach in June. We have made
reservations at the Compass Cove(Swampfox) and I would like to know
what is there to do around there. Where can we go to eat. I like
seafood. Also if you don't recommend Compass Cove do you think
Captains' Quarters, Sea Mist, or Blue Water Resort will be better.
Where exactly is Compass Cove located. It says that is on 2311 South
Ocean Blvd. Is that in the South End of the North Myrtle Beach, or is
it in the South Myrtle Beach.

I'm planning a trip to MB this August 2001,I have made reservations at
Compass Cove(formerly Swamp Fox). If anyone could share experiences
with this hotel, I'd appreciate it. If it is clean, and good place to
take children and where it is located at. Only second time at MB and
not familiar with surroundings. I stayed at Holiday Inn 1200 N, at the
pavilion first trip and loved every minute of it. the location, the
room, the pools, everything, hoping for same thing with Compass Cove. I
can still change plans so any info would be great! thanks in advance

We have been going to Myrtle Beach for nearly 15 years...and always go
in the spring. usually April for a week . We stayed once about 12 years
ago at the SEA MIST...it was horribly crowded, and noisy. Parking at
that place was terrible. We also stayed at the Ocean Park and The Swamp
Fox...which is now called the Compass Cove. Now, we stay at the
SANDCASTLE SOUTH . ..and are very pleased with it . Nice location on
South Ocean Boulevard, and very nice rooms. It is only 4 years old.
If you stay more toward the center of Myrtle Beach ..be prepared for
more TEENS and more noise at night and more traffic there. We like
staying way down in the last part of the motel strip....south ocean
boulevard.
Places to go after supper at night...Broadway At the Beach....where you
can shop and walk off your dinner.

We have chosen to stay at the Compass Cove formally the Swampfox. I
asked them how old is the building, they said 38 years old. But they
remodeled 1 year ago and they have new amenities. I want to stay in a
nice hotel no more than $135-$140, per night. We want kitchens in our
rooms. We want to stay above the ground. Oceanfront rooms. If anyone
can help me. The Compass Cove was 115.00 per night for 3 days we are
spending $345.00 I hope we aren't disappointed when we get there. We
want to be near some attractions and amusement parks. Now is there a
difference between the South Ocean Blvd. And the South Myrtle Beach. We
don't want to stay in the south Myrtle Beach. Send suggestions.
-- Tonya (tag131@hotmail.com) - 3/27/01
We have vacationed in M Beach, for nearly 15 years. every
Spring...usually April. for a week each year. We would NOT recommend
THE Sea Mist. Too many teens, and way too crowded in that area. We used
to stay at The Swamp Fox Motel which is now The Compass Cove Resort.
But the last few years we have stayed at the new in 98...SANDCASTLE
SOUTH RESORT. Beautiful ocean front room with refrigerator and
microwave. Nice pool area and of course the beach is nice. We have
always been able to get a space at night back in their parking garage.
We are going there again in a few weeks.
WE love to go to Broadway At the Beach and walk around after dinner
in the evening. There are many many restaurants there and in the
vicinity on the 17 Bypass. Traffic however is what you always have to
deal with in Myrtle Beach. That is the thing I hate about it. All that
traffic makes me nervous...but my hubby just handles it calmly.
thankfully. During Easter there are a lot of young teens and early 20's
kids close to the center of town in the motels of that area. That is
why we have always stayed farther down on South Ocean Boulevard. ...the
tail end of the strip so to speak. It seems to be more family oriented
....whereas up in the center of MB...those motels obviously are quite
lenient in allowing young teens to book rooms, etc.
There are hundreds of Restaurants in the area. One of our favorites
is way up in North Myrtle Beach...called THE OUTRIGGER . It has been in
business nearly 20 years or longer and has a great reputation. Just a
ways to go in the traffic ..unless you are staying in North M B.
Last year we had a great meal at the Music City Café. which used to
be the Alabama Grille....on the 17 BYpass..near Broadway At the Beach.
We also have had some good steaks down in Garden City on Kings Highway
at the Texas Road House.
If you want an economical meal, and don't mind standing in
line...there is the famous K & W Cafeteria near the airport on Kings
Highway . Great food....always....we go there every year....it can get
crowded if you go after 5 PM...that is the disadvantage. Prices are so
very cheap , though. It is very close to the Sandcastle South where we
stay.

I travel to the coast frequently and enjoy staying at the Sea Watch
Resort. The rooms and suites are beautifully decorated. The swimming
pool, lazy river and work out facility are all great! And the staff is
the most courteous and effecient I have ever known. I would rate Sea
Watch Resort as one of the best hotels on the coast: A+.
We stay at the Myrtle Beach Resort at least once every year. My sons
(5,7,& 10) love staying at the resort. They're able to play basketball
or tennis (they try) and then cool off in the ocean or one of the many
pools at the resort. We always get terrific service from the staff and
have been very pleased with the accommodations.

This will be our third time to vacation in Myrtle Beach. The first
time we stopped on our way to Disney World. That was in 1995. We came
back again in 1999. And now we are making plans again for 2001. We are
campers so we haul our travel trailer about 750 miles. Each time we
stay at OCEAN LAKES FAMILY CAMPGROUND. We love it at Ocean Lakes. It is
a big campground - over 300 acres. And they have tons of activities:
Olympic size outdoor pool, indoor pool, miniature golf, basketball
court, sand volleyball, play-grounds, fishing lakes, arcade, beautiful
observation deck and of course, the ocean. The campground is clean, the
restrooms are kept nice, and the staff is friendly. I recommend this
campground with high marks. I can hardly wait until summer. We've been
to the Alabama Theatre - excellent show. The Medieval Times is great.
Dick's Last Resort is a real experience. Basically we stay at the
campground though and relax a lot.

We have visited Myrtle beach about 12 years in a row now! we are
from Ohio and find the 12 hour trip worth the time!! If you can go the
week or 2 after labor day in Sept. its the best time to be there!! the
weather is still beautiful in the upper 80's and the crowds are fewer!!
we've been there in July and August!! hated it!! its to HOT!! you wait
in lines for everything!! the traffic is horrible!! trust me!! another
plus is the rates drop almost in half after Labor day!! we used to stay
at the Sand castle!! but they let the place get runned down!! the past
2 years we stayed at a place called the Atlantica! its owned by the
poindextor! its very nice!! ocean front 2 bedrooms!! I recommend it!!
anyone have a new place to try!! please e=mail me!!!

Summer of 2000, June We stayed at Tropical Winds at Myrtle Beach. We
had a great time. The room was very clean and we had maid service every
day. We had a 2 room suite with a kitchen. The pool area was nice and
close to the Lazy River Ride. All of our childern loved the fact that
we were walking distance to Family Kingdom and just a few mintues to
the Pavilion Amusement Park. Crabby Mikes has good food but a bit
pricey and we had to wait 1 hr 45 min to sit down. We are intrested in
any comments on the Barefoot Landing section. I like to go shopping in
that area but need some information on good hotels for at least 6
people in a suite, Thanks.

I just reserved a cabin at the Myrtle Beach State Park for May
6-13,2002, and would apprecitate comments from anyone who has stayed
there or who knows someone who stayed there. I would also appreciate
recommendations for two bedroom condos away from the busy area. We live
near Toronto Canada. We have stayed at Lakewoods Camping Resort in the
past, but noticed that the prices have gone up considerably since we
were there last (about '96). I was also a little shocked to learn it
would cost us $200 U.S. to rent bikes for the week, since we are flying
this time. I could probably buy two bikes to share for that price!! We
also rented a home from the Scotsman Inn. The home was in Ocean City
Beach. It was absolutely gorgeous!!, and quiet, perfect if you have two
families to split the cost.
