It's a flawless clear-blue day and the beach is alive with activity:
dolphins frolic just off shore, fins flashing in the sunlight. Pelicans
swoop down to deftly fill their bills with the day's catch. Seagulls

toes in the shallow waters of a tidal pool. In spring and fall, the
beach is quieter, gentler, unhurried. You can stroll for miles on the
hard-packed sands. And in winter, it's almost yours alone. Stop to
