Golf Hilton Head, SC
Sea Marsh Course
Sea Pines Plantation
Also designed by George Cobb, and remodeled in 1990 by Clyde Johnston,
Sea Marsh opened in 1966 as the second golf course in Sea Pines.
The course features broad, tree-lined fairways that traverse several
large lagoons and marshes. Playing to a manageable 6,169 yards
from the regular tees and 6,515 yards
from the tips, Sea Marsh offers its most tempting challenge at
the 471-yard, par five 9th hole. This is a sharp dogleg left where
the second shot must be played over water to an elevated green
surrounded by bunkers and backed by marshland. For years, one
could cut the corner of the
dogleg off the tee and have a medium iron into the green; today,
the mature oaks and pines bordering the fairway have tightened
the hole substantially and the player is forced to take a more
conservative tack.
